MANILA, Philippines — Amid recent incidents of school violence, the Teachers’ Dignity Coalition (TDC) yesterday called on the government to provide stronger security and mental health programs for learners, teachers and school communities. “These incidents remind us that violence has no place in our schools and that the safety of learners and school personnel must be a national priority,” TDC said. “Violence is often rooted in deeper social and mental health concerns that require early intervention and sustained support,” it noted. The group also advocated for the immediate and full implementation of Republic Act 12080, or the Basic Education Mental Health and Well-Being Promotion Act.
