“During questioning, Rita told police that both Ram Prakash and Amit worked as labourers and that her husband occasionally visited her. An argument allegedly broke out between the two men, during which Ram Prakash allegedly strangled Amit to death before fleeing the scene, ” said SP, Rae Bareli, Ravi Kumar. "Rita claimed she remained silent out of fear, alleging that she believed her husband might also kill her and was worried about the future of her three-year-old daughter,” added SP Ravi Kumar.The crime surfaced on Aug 1 after villagers noticed a strong foul smell coming from the house and informed village head Akhilesh Yadav. “Rita has been detained and a probe is being conducted,” he said.Police said further investigation is underway, and efforts are on to arrest the main accused.
