Tamil Nadu government signs MoUs for setting up Global Capability Centres, University of Western Australia campus in Chennai

The Tamil Nadu government on Thursday (July 30, 2026) inked four memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with leading global companies to establish Global Capability Centres (GCCs), Research and Development (R&D) centres, and a manufacturing facility.
In the higher education sector, the State government signed an MoU with the University of Western Australia to set up Tamil Nadu’s first international university campus at Velachery in Chennai.
The Tamil Nadu government’s Department of Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce signed these MoUs with the respective companies and institutions in the presence of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, who visited the Guidance Tamil Nadu office on Anna Salai.
Two leading global companies, Chubb from Switzerland and Nordex from Germany, are setting up their Global Capability Centres and R&D centres in Chennai for the first time in the State.
Minister for Industries S. Keerthana, Chief Secretary M. Sai Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce, S. Vijayakumar, and Guidance Tamil Nadu Managing Director and CEO Deepak Jacob were present.
