The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) has seized 113 abortion kits worth ₹47,672 during a raid on a wholesale medical shop in Nalgonda on Wednesday, July 29.
The kits were allegedly stocked for sale without valid purchase bills, in violation of the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
Acting on credible information, DCA officials raided Sri Laxmi Medical Agencies, located in Prakasham Bazar, Nalgonda, operated by P. Sudhakar.
The kits were manufactured by Akums Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited, Haridwar, Uttarakhand, and were allegedly stocked for sale without supporting purchase invoices.
The DCA said MTP kits contain a combination of Mifepristone and Misoprostol, medicines used for the medical termination of early pregnancy under prescribed conditions and only under strict medical supervision.
