Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has called for a thorough investigation into the release and utilisation of Panchayat Raj (PR) funds in Telangana, both at the State and district levels, to ascertain whether there have been any deviations from the norms prescribed by the Central Finance Commission (CFC).
In separate yet identifical letters addressed to Union Panchayati Raj Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh and Telangana Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister D. Anasuya Seethakka, Mr. Sanjay Kumar sought a probe to verify whether the restrictions governing the utilisation of untied grants had been adhered to.
He urged the authorities to compare official records, identify any systemic lapses, and recommend corrective measures to ensure strict compliance with CFC guidelines.
The State government’s clarification came after Mr. Sanjay Kumar had earlier written to Mr. Singh alleging anomalies in the utilisation of Panchayat Raj funds.
He said the issue had been brought to his notice by several public representatives from his Karimnagar parliamentary constituency, including sarpanches and other elected representatives.
