President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. opened his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA 2026) to announce that lawmakers, contractors, and high-ranking officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways have been charged and detained for their alleged roles in the massive corruption of flood control projects in the country.
On Wednesday, the Department of Justice said P841 million in cash has been recovered from some of those implicated in the flood control controversy and remitted to the national treasury.
GMA News Research found that a total of 45 persons and two contracting firms have been charged in a total of 26 cases in court.
