A magnitude 5.5 earthquake hits southwest Baras, Catanduanes late Wednesday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The quake, which occurred at 11:10 p.m. was tectonic in origin with a depth of 10 kilometers.
The PHIVOLCS said no damage is expected but aftershocks may occur.
