Cochin Shipyard launches seventh anti-submarine warfare vessel for Indian Navy

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) on Wednesday launched Machilipatnam, the seventh anti-submarine warfare (ASW) vessel in a series of eight being built for the Indian Navy.
The ship was launched by Goolrukh Anand in the presence of Vice Admiral Atul Anand.
The vessel is 78.0 metres long and 11.36 metres wide with a draught of 2.7 metres.
“The ASW shallow watercraft are designed to undertake anti-submarine operations in coastal waters, low-intensity maritime operations and mine laying operations including subsurface surveillance.
CSL officials, including chairman and managing director Jose V.J., senior officials of the Southern Naval Command, and representatives of the Classification Society were present.
