MANILA, Philippines — More than P841 million in flood control project funds has been returned to the National Treasury, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said.
In a statement sent to reporters on Wednesday, July 29, DOJ spokesperson Polo Martinez said a total of P841,381,500 has been returned to the state coffers.
The individuals identified by the DOJ as having returned the funds are the same individuals the agency named as state witnesses.
Alcantara is a former DPWH Bulacan district engineer who said he issued completion certificates for a P55-million flood control project that later turned out to be a ghost project, and he also said he worked with Bernardo on commission arrangements.
