“If the harassment of students at the hands of the police continues, the Cockroach Janta Party will respond with a massive peaceful protest soon,” he posted on X.
The Bihar government said it had withdrawn FIRs against protesters registered before 6 p.m. on July 26, and the governments of Assam and West Bengal have followed suit.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Sachin Sharma said, “We have not received any orders or official communication to withdraw the FIRs yet.”
A total of 14 FIRs were registered and 600 people were detained and subsequently released in the South East district where the prohibitory orders were imposed.
‘Credible apprehension’The CJP also expressed concern over the Supreme Court’s directions on Tuesday allowing State authorities to proceed with the investigation of the FIRs registered in connection with the protests.
