Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that “those who try to harm the future of our youth will not be spared”.
The Union government has decided to set up fast-track courts “to ensure swift and stringent punishment for those involved in paper leaks”, Modi added.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the prime minister was the one “who has harmed the future of our youth the most”.
The statement came after videos on social media showed reporters from television channels being attacked and heckled while covering the youth protests demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The Delhi High Court has agreed to hear a public interest litigation seeking an inquiry by the National Investigation Agency into the youth protests in the national capital.
