10 workers killed as under-construction tunnel collapses in Sikkim

At least ten persons were killed and several more were trapped after a tunnel being constructed in Sikkim’s Namchi district collapsed on Monday, The Hindu reported.
The tunnel was part of the Teesta Stage VI Hydroelectric Project of the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation in the Samardung area.
Around 27 workers were trapped after the landslide blocked the entrance of the tunnel, PTI quoted unidentified officials as saying.
Several workers are still trapped in the tunnel, ANI quoted Namchi Information and Public Relations Department as saying.
