The living wage in Ireland should be set at €15.40 to help combat the rising cost of living, according to the Living Wage Technical Group (LWTG). A living wage is the minimum income required for a single adult working full-time to achieve a socially acceptable minimum standard of living in Ireland. The LWTG was established in March 2014, making it the 11th year the Living Wage has been updated and published by the group. "While policy measures have limited the potential growth in the wage needed to meet the rising cost of living, the gap between the real living and national minimum wage remains substantial.”In Budget 2025, the minimum wage increased by 80c. The Low Pay Commission makes recommendations to Government each year on a minimum wage that is supposed to be fair and sustainable.
