Eleven students from Corporation schools and another 20 studying in private schools and colleges were seen off at Madurai airport by Corporation Commissioner Chitra Vijayan on Sunday. The Rotary Club of Madurai Mid-Town members organised a visit to the ISRO in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh for those children who had the fire to become scientists. As a part of this, the Rotarians, in coordination with the Corporation School Education authorities, identified 11 students namely Hari Suryaprakash, Thayuba, Kavya Dharshini, Gokul, Sivasakthi, Sadana, Dharanidharan, Karthikeyan, Udayasri, Devisri and Jairajan studying in various Corporation schools in the city. Similarly, 20 students from private schools and colleges were also selected for the ‘Signature project’, the Rotarians said and added that they presented books authored by former President Abdul Kalam to the students. Rotarian D. Sivasankar, School Education department officials and others were present at the airport, said a press release from the Corporation.
