As farmers in the Ramanathapuram district are preparing the farms for sowing paddy seeds, the monsoon rains have mostly failed them. He mentioned that it was not the first time unseasonal rainfall has affected their usual process. “In the last few years, due to various reasons, the rainfall pattern is slowly changing, and the farmers adhering to that pattern are trying to modify their farming practice,” he added. As the rainfall pattern has become unpredictable the usual September rains have been delayed by a month, he added. With this, side effects of the delayed rains were also inevitable, he said.
