Karur Collector M. Thangavel on Sunday said 39 persons, who got caught in the stampede during the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay’s rally at Karur on Saturday night, were ‘brought dead’ to hospital from the spot. The Chief Minister also sent the Collectors of Dindigul and Tiruchi to Karur overnight to carry out the works. He said autopsies were conducted on 39 dead persons on Saturday night and the bodies were handed over to their respective families. Uninterrupted power supplyThe Chief Engineer of Tangedco, S. Rajalakshmi, said uninterrupted power supply was provided when Mr Vijay was speaking at Velusamypuram. She denied charges from different quarters that there was interruption of power supply during his speech.
