Governor K. Kailashnathan has advocated for measures to preserve the integrity of the landscape of heritage buildings by imposing curbs on high-rise structures. Pointing out that French architecture was one of the main attraction for tourists to explore the Boulevard avenues, the Lt. Governor said demolition of old structures to build new tall buildings was tantamount to burying the city’s cherished heritage. Holding that tourism should be viewed as an important means of human-cultural exchange and not merely as an economic opportunity, Mr. Kailashnathan called for more efforts to promote spiritual tourism.
