Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Thursday inaugurated a 108-foot-high national flag at the Mehdipatnam Garrison in a ceremonial event organised by the Indian Army. The programme included a guard of honour, hoisting of the Tricolour and the rendition of the national anthem. Addressing the gathering, the Governor paid tribute to the bravery and professionalism of the armed forces and acknowledged the sacrifices of soldiers and their families. He also appreciated the contribution of veterans and veer naris, and urged NCC cadets to uphold the values of discipline, service and patriotism. He thanked Naveen Jindal, president of the Flag Foundation of India, for sponsoring the 108-foot mast, and commended the foundation’s efforts to promote respect for the national flag.
