Tension prevailed outside the GITAM Deemed to Be University as the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) activists and members gathered on Thursday. The members held a protest and alleged that the police had prevented them from inspecting the 54 acres government site. The protest was led by YSRCP MLC Botcha Satyanarayana, Uttarandhra regional coordinator Kurasala Kannababu, Visakhapatnam district YSRCP president, KK Raju, and a few others. Mr Botcha Satyanaraya criticised the police and said that they were acting as protectors of land grabbers by preventing the YSRCP from inspecting the land. Former Minister, Kurasala Kannababu stated that GITAM University, which already collects hefty fees from students, is now being favoured with 54 acres of government land worth ₹5,000 crore.
