Preparatory arrangements are progressing at full speed ahead of ‘Thai Poosam’ festival at Subramanya Swamy temple in Tiruchendur, scheduled on February 1. Every year, during ‘Thai Poosam’ festival thousands of devotees throng Tiruchendur, with a significant number from the southern districts reaching the temple on foot. “As adequate toilet facilities have been installed near temple premises, installation of mobile toilets has not been planned by the Tiruchendur municipality,” the official noted. Commenting on the security arrangements, a senior official from the police department said that a total of 750 police personnel will be deployed for security during ‘Thai Poosam’ festival in Tiruchendur. “In addition, two watch towers have been established along the seashore and two boats with Coastal Security Group police will be deployed 24x7 for security arrangements,” the official added.
