The State Budget for 2026-27 financial year, presented by Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal on Thursday, has proposed to establish a Finance Tower in Kochi aiming at strengthening financial governance. The tower would bring together major finance and taxation wings, including Goods and Services Tax, under one integrated facility, the Minister said. Another major announcement for the district in the Budget is the allocation of ₹2 crore for the infrastructural development of a new industrial park in Ernakulam. The Minister said 1,350 acres had been acquired for the development of the Kochi- Palakkad High-Tech Industrial Corridor, which is part of the Kochi-Bangalore Industrial Corridor.
