A Class XI student died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Nagapattinam on Wednesday, triggering protests by his parents and relatives who alleged medical negligence and staged a road blockade demanding action. The deceased, Santhosh ,16, son of Veeramani of Kurichi village near Velankanni, was a student of the a Higher Secondary School in Nagapattinam Town. He was admitted to a private hospital in the town on Wednesday following complaints of severe abdominal pain. However, he died during treatment, hospital sources said. The student’s parents and relatives refused to receive the body and staged a road blockade, alleging that improper treatment had led to the boy’s death.
