The Parry Sound Fire Department is in the midst of a recruitment drive. Training Officer Austin Benson said the service is currently looking for four to six new recruits to join the local department. All you need is to be 18 years of age, have a valid drivers license and good work ethic. According to Benson, being a volunteer firefighter can be quite time consuming. The training program is approximately 120 hours, there are regular monthly training sessions, and emergency response.
