But in the endless flood of “must-watch” shows, the bad stuff by acclaimed creators often outshines the good stuff by lesser-knowns. Opinions are, of course, like Fitbits – every arsehole has one – but before you watch Task, it might be worth reading the Guardian’s review. In the latest “box-ticking exercise” that “very soon becomes inescapably boring”, Ruffalo stars as Tom Brandis, a former priest turned FBI agent nursing “a great sorrow”. Lots of brooding, bloody shootouts, bags of fentanyl, and bodies apparently follow, but the story trudges along to the point where it “feels outright manipulative”.
