On Heritage Day (Wednesday 24 September 2025), the City of Cape Town is waiving entrance fees at selected nature reserves, so you can hike, picnic and braai for mahala all over the Metro. “We want to showcase our natural heritage in Cape Town,” says Deputy Mayor Eddie Andrews. So pack the cooler box, chuck in the braai grid, lace up your takkies and go claim your slice of Cape Town’s natural heritage. Braai frequency : 80% braai regularly, and roughly 30% fire it up at least once a week, come rain or shine.
