The numbers speak for themselvesLooking at the team’s hitting statistics, the Mets’ team batting average stood at .241 on August 12. Over the first 118 games of the season, the Mets averaged 4.35 runs, 8.2 hits, and 1.25 home runs per game. In the 22 games since August 12, their hitting have increased to 7.57 runs, 10.14 hits, and 2.14 home runs. So after talking to the analytics guys and crunching numbers on fastballs, they are changing the approach to be look fastball first.
