ROCK Rail’s German subsidiary Rock Rail NnW is to finance the acquisition of 61 Siemens Mireo Plus B BEMUs. The new trains will be leased and deployed in northwest Germany by an operator yet to be appointed by Westphalia-Lippe Local Transport Association (NWL). The 15-year contract is expected to commence with the timetable change in December 2029 and will involve the operation of 7.1 million train-km each year replacing existing DMUs. According to NWL, this will be the second-largest BEMU fleet in Germany once the new trains are in service. For detailed data on fleet orders across Europe, subscribe to IRJ Pro.
