The screening of Tadmor in Syria last week was nothing short of amazing, and I only wish Lokman Slim had been among us to witness this historic event. Tadmor, a documentary by Monika Borgmann and Lokman Slim, was released in 2016 and tells the story of Lebanese prisoners in the notorious Tadmor Prison in Syria. Eight Lebanese prisoners who survived Tadmor “agreed to speak about and, above all, depict the horrors they endured and bore witness to. They acted out, on a ‘theatrical’ set they built, the torture and humiliation that, for so many years, comprised their everyday lives”. The outcome was an extraordinary and brave testimonial, resulting in an award-winning documentary.
