Women's Aid saw the highest number of contacts in its 50 year history last year. One in three women suffer physical, psychological or sexual abuse from an intimate partner, according to Women's Aid. The charity's annual report shows violence against women increased across the board, with physical abuse up by over a fifth, and sexual abuse increasing by 30 per cent. Gardaí "Unhelpful" To Some44% who contacted Gardaí for support, found the response 'unhelpful'. The contacts made to Women's Aid last year reflect a 12% increase on 2023.
