AMKTC steps up checks after Fernvale riser fire, reminds residents not to store items in common areasAng Mo Kio Town Council (AMKTC) has stepped up checks after a fire broke out in an electrical riser at Block 411B Fernvale Road on Sept 18. Stomp earlier reported on the incident after Stomper Julie said she smelt smoke entering her flat from the riser outside her unit. Another resident, Stomper Anderson shared videos of fire engines at the scene and people waiting around a void deck. In response to a Stomp query, an AMKTC spokesperson said its team was on site to assist affected residents and that power was fully restored by 6.30pm the same day. "We would like to remind residents not to store personal items in riser compartments, common corridors, or staircase landings, as these can impede fire-fighting efforts during emergencies.
