The carnival float featured winners of the 2022 Flitch Trials, Mike and Zanna, and their daughter Ren, seated in the Flitch Chair. The Flitch Trials award a flitch of bacon to married couples who can convince a judge and jury that they have not wished themselves unmarried within a year and a day. The trials are 900 years old, and were referenced in Chaucer's The Wife of Bath's Tale. They take place every four years, with the last trials held in 2024 and the previous trials delayed for two years by the pandemic.
