ASHLAND — OhioHealth athletic trainers at Ashland University have been honored with the “Great Midwest Athletic Conference Athletic Training Staff of the Year” Award for the 2024-2025 season. The team of seven athletic trainers were led by head athletic trainer Josh Wiemels. “We’re proud to see our OhioHealth athletic trainers at Ashland University recognized by the Great Midwest Athletic Conference,” said Lisa Parker AT, manager of OhioHealth Sports Medicine. Our athletic trainers along with team physicians, Dr. Matt Bernhard, Dr. Mario Brunicardi and Dr. Ken Cayce provide exceptional care for all. “OhioHealth is honored to have been the healthcare provider for Ashland Athletics since 2018, and we look forward to continuing to care for them in the years to come.”The athletic trainers support 24 sports teams at Ashland University, several of which are already in season for 2025-2026.
