Jake became a volunteer crew member at the earliest opportunity after turning 18 and has now completed the Crew Emergency Protocol (CEP) training course with his dad. This interest led him to complete shore crew training and take some trips on the Burnham lifeboat. "It was a proud couple of days attending the CEP course with Jake. "I treat him as if he were any other crew member when at sea, and I will obviously do the same when that first shout comes along. The father-son pair's involvement in the CEP course at RNLI College Poole is part of the Operational Competence Training (OCF) initiative introduced by the RNLI.
