Adam Miller, 48, who has lived in Axbridge for the last eight years, was on one of his regular trips to Cheddar Reservoir on September 13 when he saw a flock of glossy ibis. He spotted five glossy ibis, a bird species which Adam believes has likely never been spotted at Cheddar Reservoir before. It was really cool to see them, really unusual, especially so close to where I live.”According to The Wildlife Trusts, the glossy ibis is a heron-like bird with a long, curving beak. They breed mainly in parts of southern and southeast Europe and are occasional visitors to the UK. The trusts' website states: "This glossy wading bird is a scarce visitor to the UK, though records have become more common in recent decades."
