Council gives update on Banwell Bypass project
["Declan O'Reilly"]
Burnham and Highbridge Weekly News | News
The Banwell Bypass is a major road scheme north of the village of Banwell that is largely funded by Homes England’s Housing Infrastructure Fund to ease congestion on the route between the A38 and Weston-super-Mare.
Alongside reducing traffic pressure, the bypass is designed to support future housing growth, subject to the council’s Local Plan.
A spokesperson for North Somerset Council said: “Take a look at this bird's-eye view of the Banwell bypass and see the project taking shape.
“The works you can see include excavated earthworks, improvements to drainage and preparations for the new Moor Road link bridge.
“As the Banwell bypass is also set to deliver an impressive 40 per cent Biodiversity Net Gain, we have also put measures in place to protect wildlife and the environment.
