"I love all the symbolism of Christmas from around the world - the snow and reindeer and open fires - but it's all pretty detached from the Australian experience," she says. "I wanted a book that reflected all the Christmassy colours and creatures of the Australian bush - the natural beauty and spirit of Christmas that's available to us in our own backyards."
