-- Officers with the LaPorte County Sheriff's Office responded to the 200 block of Lakeview Drive in Fish Lake regarding a burglary in progress, resulting in one person being shot. At approximately 8:09 a.m.Sunday morning, a 66-year-old homeowner arrived at his residence and entered through an overhead garage door, where he encountered a Hispanic male carrying two rifles inside his garage. The homeowner then went inside and found a second Hispanic male within the residence. A scuffle broke out between the two, and the homeowner was shot before the intruder fled. The homeowner suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body and was transported to a regional hospital by ground for treatment.
