LA MESA, California – As Rosh Hashanah approaches, images of pomegranates can be seen or identified everywhere. Pomegranates are part of the Sephardic Rosh Hashanah Seders. A pomegranate is often the “new fruit” on the second night of Rosh Hashanah. As I am keeping an eye on a neighbor’s pomegranate tree, I wonder each year if they will be ripe and ready before Rosh Hashanah. *Ohr Shalom Synagogue’s Sisterhood announces its “Challah Prep for Rosh Hashanah” at 9:30 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 21.
