Climate change is real and impacting countries in the region. A renewed call has been made for Barbadians to join the Ministry of the Environment and National Beautification and the Green and Blue Economy to reach the goal of planting more than a million trees across the island. The call came from Minister of Environment, National Beautification, Green and Blue Economy, Adrian Forde, who wants to ensure the Barbadian landscape remains clean and green. He was speaking during this year’s annual Arbor Day celebrations at the National Conservation Commission. Minister Forde said the tree-planting process began in 2019, following a call from Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley to plant a million plants across the island.
