The county long operated the former hotel with offices in what was known as Newell Tower. There were several interesting discoveries as the work got underway at the old downtown hotel. Mr. Compton said the hotel doors were gone as the county partioned the building into office cubicles. Mr. Compton said he is also talking with someone who mights set up a speakeasy in the hotel basement. The entrance area features old photos of the Park Hotel, which opened in 1915.
