The city is planning to turn over management of its two parking garages to CARTA. Richard Beeland, city economic development administrator, said, "CARTA has an overall strategy for downtown parking." The garages are currently managed by Republic Parking. That latest five-year contract is running out. The garages are the River Pier at the Chattanooga Green near the river and Southside, which is by The Chattanoogan hotel.
