A majority of the County School Board, in a tumultous Thursday night session, declined to go back on its decision to end Centerstone student counselors. The wife of a school board member told the panel they would have "blood on your hands" by not continuing the program, and the session ended with board member Jill Black shouting, "Blood on your hands! Before a vote could take place on the Connor motion, board member Jodi Schaffer said, "With all due respect to my fellow board member, the board has already spoken on this issue. The Hamilton County High School Democrats and Signal Mountain High School Democrats said afterward, "At tonight’s School Board meeting, the Hamilton County School Board voted to table member Ben Connor’s resolution to restore mental health services provided by Centerstone Community Mental Health. We also ask that people email their School Board Members consistently until this issue is rectified, not just now, while it is the news.
