The title was awarded to Year 5 students, now in Year 6, at the end of the last academic year. The award formed part of a borough-wide schools competition in which pupils took part in three interactive lessons about climate change and practical actions to reduce environmental impact at home and school. West Winch Primary School won first place for a campaign praised for its practical ideas to engage students and families in climate action. Amy Chatzidimitriou, Year 5 teacher, said: “The children loved taking part in the Climate Champions project. "They learnt so much about the causes of climate change and the negative impacts these changes are having on not only our world, but also the animals and people on it.”
