Norwich Crown Court heard some weeks later Carman arrived back at her home in Briston, where her elderly mother lived in accommodation near to a stable and hay barn. Norwich Crown Court(Image: Peter Walsh, Newsquest)The barn then caught fire, on January 20 last year, after the 64-year-old used a stove in it. The victim's son used buckets of water to try and extinguish the blaze before firefighters arrived. Oliver Haswell, prosecuting, said the victim was "terrified" about what might happen to her mother and horses. He said at the very least Carman, a joiner by trade, had been "clearly reckless" to have used a naked flame in a hay barn.
