Jammu Tawi, Sep 23: An eight-foot-long python, which had captured a wild jackal, was successfully rescued by the wildlife protection team, police, and locals in the Nowshera area of Rajouri district on Tuesday, officials said. Acting on information from locals, teams of police and the wildlife department rushed to Manpur village in Nowshera tehsil and launched an operation to capture a giant python in the forest area, Wildlife official Rajesh Kumar said. Wildlife Warden Rajouri-Poonch, Nadeem Iqbal Mirza, said that they received information from locals about the presence of a huge snake. “Along with police teams, we launched a rescue operation and successfully rescued the python,” he said. Mirza said it was an Indian Rock Python rescued in the village and said “The python was rescued and later released back into a protected forest area,” he added.
