Cops accused of robbing Chinese businessman $4MKaieteur News – The Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) has completed an investigation into the alleged theft of $4M from a Chinese businessman by police ranks earlier this month. In a press release on Tuesday the Guyana Police Force said the allegation was made against an inspector and three other ranks by the Chinese businessman. It is alleged that during a ‘stop and search’ exercise the ranks searched the businessman’s vehicle, and in the process of them doing so, they stole the sum of $4M. The four ranks were subsequently detained and placed under close arrest on August 14 2025, and have since been released under open arrest but remain at the Tactical Service Unit. The case file is expected to be submitted to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Chambers today, for legal advice.
