Kenneth Orvin Eggen, of Eagle Lake, Minnesota, peacefully departed this life on September 10, 2025 at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Mankato, Minnesota. Ken was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed quick wit and laughter. He was a quiet and stoic man of deeply strong faith who enjoyed working outside and time with family, friends and neighbors. He delighted in his time up north at the lake with family. His grandchildren called him "Papa" and enjoyed his hugs and mints. Kenneth was born on July 22, 1942 to Helen (Nelson) and Arvin Eggen at the hospital in Ada, Minnesota. He grew up in rural Shelly, Minnesota. Ken attended school at Halstead grade and high school and graduated in 1961. He proudly served in the U.S. Army (1963-1966) and was stationed in Germany with the 8th Infantry Division. Ken returned to Minnesota and moved to Minneapolis where he worked and met the love of his life. Ken and Sherry (Hall) were married on July 15, 1967. They later moved to a farm in Eagle Lake, Minnesota in 1974 where Ken bought and sold feeder pigs and raised hogs. Ken and Sherry were blessed with two sons and were married for 58 years. Ken is survived by his wife Sherry; son and daughter-in-law Charles and Jess (Waunakee, WI) and grandchildren Lilia, August, Arianna, and Carter; son Joseph (Minnesota Lake, MN) and grandchildren Ryan, Spencer, Piper and their mother Trisha; special cousin and friend Janet Sargent (Ada, MN); sister and brother-in-laws Susan Padilla, Shelley and Larry Hoehn; Gary McCarthy; and many nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Arven and Helen, brother Arlen, mother and father-in-law, Janet (Read) and John Hall, brothers-in-law Timothy Hall, Todd Hall, and Moses Padilla, along with a sister-in-law Claudia McCarthy. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Salem Lutheran Church in Eagle Lake with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Eagle Lake Cemetery.
