President Donald Trump’s fifth speech at the United Nations was by far his longest, but not his most effective. He targeted the UN for its inaction and lack of support for his peace efforts. He asked, “What is the purpose of the United Nations?” And answered,But it’s not even coming close to living up to that potential. He lambasted renewable energy as too expensive and ineffective, doubling down on his commitment to nuclear and fossil fuel. Trump also targeted the UN for fearmongering and false predictions of climate catastrophe.
