Bengaluru’s Stray Dog Feeding Scheme Stalls After BBMP Dissolution (Canva)Bengaluru: A much-publicised plan to feed thousands of stray dogs in Bengaluru has run into uncertainty after the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) was dissolved and replaced by the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA).
What was once hailed as a first-of-its-kind initiative has now been put on hold, The New Indian Express reported.
The BBMP had drawn up a scheme to serve one cooked meal of chicken rice every morning to nearly 4,000 stray dogs across the city, at an estimated annual cost of Rs 2.88 crore.
The feeding plan was carefully structured.
For now, animal lovers and residents await clarity on whether the new corporations will carry forward this ambitious plan or let it fade away with the BBMP.
