Professor Alison Fell, Professor of French Cultural History at the University of Leeds, will speak about the Cavell network in a talk which will discuss how the network was set up and functioned, the kinds of people who were involved, including Ada Bodart, before moving on to talk about how the network was remembered in France and Germany after the arrests, imprisonments and executions of its members. Written by politician-playwright Reginald Berkeley and directed by Herbert Wilcox, both veterans of the First World War, the film starred stage actress Sybil Thorndike as Cavell and included former network member Ada Bodart in the cast.
